Sports Injuries ...
Most sports related injuries are the result of overuse i.e. playing too hard and too often (e.g. Tennis Elbow, golfer’s elbow, and biceps tendinitis,..) or from not warming up properly before exercise. Furthermore, the use of an incorrect equipment can lead to similar issues.
On top of that, our osteopaths regularly report that youngsters are especially vulnerable in sport. As their bodies grows, they are often expected to perform to high standards and are pushing over their physical capabilities.... and easily injure themselves.
Every sport has a specific type of injuries related to its practice (martial arts, golf, football, duel, etc..). Thus, we won't treat a professional athlete the same as beginner.
Generally, sports injuries are caused by trauma, over training, poor preparation, poor choice of exercise and peer group pressure.
Our osteopaths will help you resume physical activity in no time but also help you improve your performance.
Sprains and strains are the most common
- Runner’s knee (Shin Splints, patello-femoral pain, …).
- Sprains (ligaments,…)
- Tendonitis (Shoulder, gluteal, … ).
- Tennis elbow.
- Strains (muscles, hamstrings,.. )
- Various sport related traumas
- Joint pains
Sport injuries can affect any part of the body
- Back Pain
- Bone injuries (stress fractures,..)
- Head injuries
- Heel pain
- Swollen joints (i.e golfer’s elbow, …)
- Knee Pain, (i.e knee ligament damage)

How many osteopathy sessions will you need ?
That’s a very good question !! Indeed, many patients report that health centers will usually request you to take 2-3 sessions per week over a 2 month period. During this time, they will have you alternate between chiropractics & physiotherapy treatments. What a total waste of time and money !!
Sports Injuries always depend of your condition & your medical history. At PHHC Osteopathic Center, most of acute conditions can be treated in a single session, if treated quickly after onset of symptoms.
However, chronic pain will probably require a bit more. Anyhow, you can’t have more than one session per month. Your body needs time to adjust to the changes that the osteopath made.
If we cannot help you, we will tell you immediately & you will not be charged.
Furthermore, we will refer you to one of our medical partners that can.
